Privacy Policy

PlantLedger is a local, offline plant-inventory app. Your data — plants, quantities, sections, photos, GPS locations, audits, labels and notes — is stored only on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.

1. Information the App Handles

The App stores the information you choose to enter, entirely in the App's private storage on your device:

• Plant entries: name, scientific name, quantity, section/location, labels, favourites, notes, and stock history.
• Photos you take or select for a plant.
• GPS location you record for a plant (from a photo's location data or from your device's current location, only when you ask for it).
• Audits and the flowering/fruiting/seed calendar you set up.

None of this is sent to the developer or to any server. It never leaves your device unless you deliberately export or back it up (see "Backups & Sharing").

2. Device Permissions and Why They're Used

• Camera — to take photos of plants. Photos are saved only on your device.
• Photos / Photo library — to let you choose an existing photo for a plant, and (with your permission) to read a photo's embedded location.
• Location — only when you tap "Use current GPS location" (or enable auto-GPS), to record where a plant is. Location is stored on your device and is not shared. You can decline this and still use the App fully.
• Notifications — only if you enable "Collection reminders", to remind you on-device when flowers, fruit or seed are due for collection. Reminders are generated and scheduled locally; nothing is sent anywhere.

You can grant or revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device settings. Denying them limits only the related feature.

3. Third-Party Services

Map (OpenStreetMap): the "View map" screen loads map images from OpenStreetMap's tile servers over the internet. To fetch the right map images, your device requests tiles for the map area you are viewing; this involves your IP address and the map coordinates, as with any online map, but no plant data or personal information is sent. OpenStreetMap's use is governed by its own privacy policy. If you never open the map screen, no such request is made.

The App contains no advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or tracking of any kind.

4. Backups & Sharing

You control any data that leaves the device:

• Export (CSV) and Back up all data create a file that is handed to your operating system's share sheet. You choose where it goes — for example iCloud Drive, Google Drive, email, or AirDrop. Once you place a file in a third-party service, that service's own privacy policy applies. We do not receive a copy.
• Restore reads a backup file you select. Files you pick are processed only on your device.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Because all data lives on your device, you are in full control:

• Delete individual entries, sections, or audits within the App at any time.
• Uninstalling the App permanently removes all of its data from the device.
• Any backup files you exported remain wherever you saved them until you delete them there.

We do not hold any of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is suitable for all ages. It does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

7. Security

Your data is stored in the App's private, sandboxed storage provided by iOS/Android. Because nothing is transmitted to us, there is no server-side data to breach. Protecting the device itself (passcode, device encryption, and where you store exported backups) is under your control.

8. Changes to This Policy

If the App changes what it does with data — for example when optional cloud sync/collaboration is introduced — this policy will be updated and the new effective date shown above. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
